Since 2015, MARELD has been involved in the design, planning and construction of the eastern and western sides of Kongahälla. A large-scale urban expansion project in the municipality of Kungälv.
The western area includes new retail facilities for the region, a public transport interchange, six new residential quarters and a nursery all of which are connected via a network of new streets, squares and parks.
The eastern area connects to the western side of the old town and includes new traffic, pedestrian, and cycle routes that help connect the new area with the existing infrastructure. The area also includes three new residential quarters that face on to the park.
“Norra Bäckparken” has been designed to give a modern impression, a high standard and good material quality. The theme for the park, on which the design is based, is ”the future and space”. The park should feel designed in contrast to natural. It has taken strong forms to create new land art.
The public playground located in the southern part of the park provides an expanded play opportunity for the preschool. On the playground there are varied play values for small children such as swinging, jumping, climbing, sliding and moving. The playground is designed to be inviting for everyone with good circulation, seating and lighting.
From an early stage in the project works a Tree Planting Strategy was prepared to ensure good coverage of trees across Kongahälla.
