In connection with Landvetter’s receiving a new cultural center, MARELD developed the design of the new square that was created – Guldsmedsplatsen. A very narrow space, surrounded by a diverse mix of buildings with different height and odd shapes, a noisy motorway and a lot of people passing to and from the travel center – that was the starting point and the challenge to deal with. A continuous floor of Swedish offerdals slate and bohus granite binds together and creates calmness. Connecting paths are clarified with terrace walls, greenery. Art adds variety and content. In collaboration with Pål Svensson, we found a suitable placement of his sculpture ”Together” in front of the entrance to the cultural center.
