A number of urban development projects are underway in Gothenburg; The west link and related projects, which will change parts of the city in a radical way. The developments pose a threat to the remains of the fortress city by removing ancient remains under land. At the same time, the projects provide an opportunity to take action to strengthen the story telling of the fortified city and to showcase the remains that are being dug up.
The action program is a strategic document that takes the City Museum’s vision of the fortress city, concretize the proposed measures and link them to specific places in the city. It is a proposal on how the fortified city can be shaped and clarified in the historical center of Gothenburg in the future.
The action program has been developed by Reuter Metelius Cultural Environment Specialists in collaboration with Nyréns Arkitektkontor and MARELD Landscape Architects on behalf of the Stadsbyggnadskontoret, Trafikkontoret and Kulturförvaltningen, Göteborgs stad.
