Last year MARELD were commissioned to prepare detail design proposals for the renewal of one of Swedens oldest skate parks by Linköpings kommun!
Following a site visit with the municipality and local skateboard and roller derby clubs MARELD prepared several alternative layouts to test ideas. Through a series of digital workshops, the layout was refined and the concept of Ekholmens Skatepark was born (a rebranding of Fun Skate Park). Drawings and illustrations were complimented by 3D models that enabled us to fly through the proposals with all involved.
The project includes the refurbishment and modernisation of the existing concrete skatepark. The re-routing of foot and cycle paths to open up an attractive new park space. A space that contains two new arrival squares, a skate bowl and an open plaza for small scale events, flatground skateboarding and Roller derby users. The focal point of the project is the new skate plaza that stretches across the park. Other complimentary elements include integrated rainwater management, public artwork, a service building and extensive new lighting.
